2006 23rd ALMOST ANNUAL COMEY’S COMETS MASTERS RACE
CAMP
WHAT: The 2006 23rd
Almost Annual Comey’s Comets Masters Race Camp is 4 ˝ days
of free
skiing (incorporating GS and slalom fundamentals) and gate training
concentrating on GS and Slalom and, since this is, after all, Masters Racing,
age appropriate social activities (cocktail party & banquet). Race and
wrap-up raffle* on final day. This is a
low key camp with the emphasis on inclusion, enjoyment and improvement for all
levels of skiers. We have skiers
improving their club and NASTAR racing and Sise Cup champions.
*Featuring
a pair of 165 cm Volkl slalom skis
WHERE: As it has for the past
23 years, the camp will be held at Stowe Mountain Resort,
The
Ski Capital of the East.
WHEN: Monday, December 11,
2006 through Noon, Friday, December 15, 2006. A perfect final
tune
up for the season opening Sise Cup slalom on 12/16/06.
COST: $365.00. This includes coaching, Thurs. night banquet
and tips for the coaches. It
does
not include lift tickets which may be purchased through the camp at a discount
rate.
COACHES (Partial List): Bob
Bortree: Bob raced for the University of Vermont, graduating in
1969. He has coached at all levels at numerous
summer camps in the United States and Europe.
Bob has been a coach with the MMSC for 14 years, again coaching athletes
at all levels, and is currently the head coach of the MMSC Masters Program
where he has garnered rave reviews. (Not an easy task in Masters racing
circles.)
Nick
Crandall: Nick has been Stowe
Mountain Resort Race Department Supervisor for four years. Previously he was the J 1-2 coach at the
Crystal Mountain Alpine Club in Washington State. Nick was a member of the
Whitman College Alpine Ski Team and attended BMA and GMVS.
Eva
Pfosi Merriam: Eva’s skiing c.v. is
too long to list but while at Dartmouth, she graduated in 1988, she was a
multiple NCAA Champion and All American.
She skied on the U.S. Ski Team and in the professional ranks and is a
superb coach and teacher.
