Hello Masters Racers!

The Tuesday night Pat’s Peak “beer league” races are looking for a few more racers to fill in a couple of teams’ rosters. Aside from being a ton of fun racing (and “socializing” afterward) with a great bunch of idiots, a couple of mid-week race runs is a great way to keep yourself tuned up for Masters races.

First races are this Tuesday, 1/5. Each week’s races start at 7:00, two runs on a dual format NASTAR course, with team and individual NASTAR scoring. The season is 7 or eight races, I believe, plus a finals night at the end of the season for the best teams from each weeknight. There are prizes for the top team of each weeknight, and for the top three teams in the finals. Courses are short, but tend to be more technical (turnier) than the average NASTAR course, with some terrain to keep it interesting. Some racers are competitive enough to wear suits, shoot Red Bull, and put mysterious concoctions on their skis at the start, all to general derision. Some folks ski fast without benefit of all that rigamarole. (Dr. Bobby Cochran, for one. Yes, that Bobby Cochran, smooth as silk.) To each their own.
