Equipment Limits

There has been some confusion regarding FIS limits on ski length, ski radius, boot stand height, and boot sole thickness.  This should clear it up for you!  If you'd like to read the official USSA equipment regulations document, click here.

For Masters, ski length and sidecut rules only apply to FIS International Masters races.
NE Masters Races and USSA Masters Races are EXEMPT from all ski dimension rules.

Women over 60 years and men over 70 years of age are EXEMPT from ski dimension rules in all FIS International Masters races.

Boot and binding rules apply to all Masters races and may be enforced at any time.

Masters who race in open (non-Masters') races, must comply with all equipment rules in effect for those races.

Length is defined as "unwound length", ie. the length of the ski if it were flattened.
Radius is defined by a complicated formula, defined in detail on the USSA document.
