Sad news: Long-time Masters racer Cynthia Lathrop's passed away. After a period of failing health Cynthia died Dec 20th. Cynthia Taft Lathrop obituary. Funeral will be Friday Jan 8, 2010 at the New Hampton Church, New Hampton, NH at 2:00 pm. Husband Fran Lathrop, also a long-time Masters racer (age 88) is currently at Summer Hill Ass't Living, 183 Old Dublin Rd, Peterborough, NH 03458. Jeff reports he is physically well, but a bit forgetful. He cared for Cynthia at home for several years. Cynthia was a great skier, and a NEMS Board member for many years. Cynthia was very instrumental in the Sise Cup early years both as a first class racer and a member of the Sise Cup Commission (the first woman on the Commission). She was a recipient of the Tobin Award for her contributions to Masters racing. Cynthia’s son Steve was on the USST before attending Middlebury College, and her eldest son, Jeff was a top collegiate skier at Colby. Cynthia was instrumental in the creation of the WES Cup and a loyal member of the Board of Directors for many years. She will be missed by the Masters community.
