Hochebirge Challenge Cup - Slalom February 24, 2007

Gather your team-mates for the 2007 Hochgebirge Challenge Cup to be held on Feb. 24, 2007 at Cannon Mtn.  This is a regular stop on the Sise Cup Masters circuit, but is also a team race with a long and storied history.  In the 1930’s when the Ski Club Hochgebirge was formed it was the custom to award trophies to individual winners and also to the ski club that performed best on the day.  In this spirit the Hochgebirge Challenge Cup is awarded to the fastest four person team entered on the day.  The fastest man on the hill receives the Alexander Bright Trophy, the fastest lady the Clarita Bright Trophy, and the fastest ladies team the Michael Harding Trophy.

The entry fee for a team of four (racing in the age group of the youngest member) is $20 and is payable the morning of the race prior to start of the first run.  For complete rules and info contact Derek Griggs at r.sports.nh@verizon.net or call Recycled Sports at 603-474-5695.

Awards will be presented by the fire at the Hochgebirge Hilton in Franconia later that afternoon.  Dinner is served ($10 donation gratefully accepted) at the house and for anyone who has not visited the Hochie Hilton it’s worth the trip to view evidence of past Hochgebirge exploits and hear claims of future skiing success.  Warning: do NOT get Derek Griggs or Jim Page started on how great we are, or how terrible it is that we have not won our own event these past two years.

BONUS PRIZE:  KHS Bicycles has been kind enough to provide a mountain bike valued at $500 as a raffle prize.  To enter the raffle simply start the race (you don’t have to finish, the crowd loves crashes) and be present at the awards back at the house.  The bike will be on display at Ernies’ all day during the race, she’s a beauty.
