Ragged Mountain Downhill Event Cancelled
Good afternoon,
Well... to hold true
to the rest of this seasons speed events, it's been an odd and disappointing
year for DH races. Too little snow at
the start, extreme cold in the middle and back to warm again. The latest bout of un-seasonably warm air
has taken the latest bite out of the NADS series.
Ragged has been
canceled because of lack of snow on certain parts of the course with no way
(and no snow) to push into place for a race and still be safe.
With that in mind,
Jay Peak is the last scheduled DH this year on Saturday March 24th. They ppd the original race date due to too
much snow on the 3rd and 4th of March and will (in all likely hood) have
plenty of snow to run the race on the 24th.
We are not going to
try to cram another speed event into the end of the season and will instead,
start planning next years events. We
have had several mountains inquire as to how they can become part of the
series for future events. That being
said, we will have our hands full planning new events at new venues as well
as past sights. Next years possible
sights (still in "negotiations") are as follows:
1. Sugarbush
2. Jay Peak
3. Cannon
4. Stratton
5. Crotched
6. Mt. Snow
7. Ragged
8. Burke
9. Attitash
We will know more
over the course of the summer as to what direction things will go. We will be looking for more sponsors for
prizes and raffles as well as T-shirts for each event as we have tried to do
in the past. A big thanks goes out to
Bob Broden and Big Speed Ski Wax for sponsoring the series once again.
If anyone has any
questions about the NADS DH series or wants to help out, please let Bob
Broden or myself know.
See you all at Jay on
the 24th.
