Dear Racers I am sorry to announce that the
2nd annual Stratton Mtn DH has been cancelled. I received an email from the race director this a.m. saying
that due to thin cover and lack of snow on the race trail, they were having
to cancel this years event. We are trying to find another
venue for the race... and it may even be this friday
or sometime in the next couple of weeks. Please check in with the www.bigspeedskiwax.com website for more
info and be assured I will send out information as it comes available. As of this very moment, the next
DH is march 3rd at Jay Peak. I am
strongly urging as many racers,DH'rs and friends as possible to make it to
this years event at Jay. George
Syrovatka, after which the race is named, has been an avid supporter of the
fight against leukemia, has very recently found out his daughter has
developed the disease. As you can imagine, his fight has become much more
personal than it has been in the past and I'd like to be able to show him how
much support he has... as a friend, a fellow racer, a speed junkie and
fighter of a disease. On another note, the Sugarbush
DH on friday turned out to be an incredible event... and cold too. Doug Lewis and company put on a hell of a
show up there. Organization was outstanding,
the hill and course was equally outstanding and the prizes he gave away were
"over the top" great!!! The
turn out was good for a first year event and it's just going to keep getting
better. His training days helped get
most of us off to a good beginning and that may be why there were no crashes
or injuries. In any case, a big
thanks to Doug, his crew and Sugarbush mountain for a successful start to the
NADS series. Thank you all for your support
and I will be in touch. Take care. Hutch |
