Mt. Snow Slalom Finishes Another
Successful New England Masters Season

Mount Snow, VT -- The 1999 New England Masters SISE Cup season came to close with the last official race at Mount Snow on Saturday March 13. The weather gods were smiling on the competitors who during the cousrs of the season had endured the full range of New England’s winter weather vagaries. Sunny skies and cool, but not cold temperatures greeted the competitors as the met for the last Slalom of the season. The course was on the popular Ego Alley trail with a World-Cup like start house that gives the racers an extra adrenaline rush.

The long course with undulating terrain provided a mix of technical challenges, from the flats at the top, through the steeps and over the final roll into the finish. At the end of the day, Patrick McNamara edged Chris Johnson and Bob Hill for the win. Rounding out the top 10 for the men were Hans Schemmel ,Doug Tucker—a self-professed GS specialist who skis slalom pretty well—Sean Florian, Dave Roberts, Alex Gadbois, Kevan Bean and Fred Dieffenbach who travels regularly from Buffalo, NY to compete.

For the Women Margaret Zucotti had two blistering runs and finished first followed by Susannah Phillips, Margaret Vaughn, Karen Nash and Nadine Price.
