Fall Training Camps '07/'08

This summer has flown by and now it is almost only 2 months before our Fall Colorado Camp at Copper Mtn. Due to Copper's new policies, they are asking for my commitment to holding camp and the numbers that will be involved by the beginning of September (we are part of a special arrangement for race training only. The mountain is not open to the public at this time, only a few camps & teams training). There are a number of flight discounts right now as well which make it a good idea for us to plan & commit early. Dates are Sat. Oct. 27 (arrival) through Sat. Nov. 3 (departure - we will ski/train in the morn.). We again will limit the number of participants to assure a quality training environment & course conditions & provide individualized coaching . Training will focus on early season preparation w/ directed free-skiing, technical & tactical drills for slalom & g.s. including specific drill courses as well as opportunities for training in full-length courses. There will be daily video and a number of days will include double sessions, allowing us to break, have lunch, watch video in the mid-mtn. lodge and then go out and do another 2 hr. training session.

Cost will be $1425 this year. We have tried very hard to limit cost increases and were able to hold the fee the past 3 seasons, however, lodging & lift increases force a camp increase. Lodging is in the Copper Mtn. base area resort & condominiums and is included in the camp fee, as are lifts, all coaching, video & training space. (For every new 'first-time' gti sports camper you bring to camp, take a $100 discount).

More details will follow soon but please inform me of your interest and send in your deposit and registration as soon as possible. I apologize, the gtisports.com website has not been updated as of yet w/ this coming season's current dates but you can use the same reg. form. Please include your $300 deposit to confirm your spot on the limited camp roster.

If you have additional questions, please call or email me and enjoy the rest of your summer (I hope there's more but we've been having night-time temps in the high 30's/low 40's!!)  Greg Timm, 541 383-3062 (home), 541 385-7853 (message or fax), 541 390-6635 (cell #), www.gtisports.com, gtimm@empnet.com

This summer has some very good racers attending the camp.  One is Erik Gilbert who races for UVM.  His ’06/’07 season points are: SL-17, GS-24, SG-61, DH-82.   Erik took 1st place at the UVM ’07 Winter GS Carnival and two 1st place finishes at the Stowe ’07 Sugar SL’s.  Several others have low seed points (~100).   Other past camp alumni include current USST members Roger Brown and Tim Kelly. Personal Training

Steve Victorson, Carolyn Beckedorff's trainer, is opening up his own fitness and training center in Boxborough, MA in September. He will continue to work with the Burdenko Institue in Bedford two days a week, but is looking for new clients up in the Boxborough area. As it is not far from Wachusett and Nashoba, some of the New England Masters racers in that area may be interested in the services he has to offer. Steve worked as a trainer for the US Ski Team for 4 years prior to joining Burdenko. Steve has been working with Carolyn since 1999, helping her achieve her overall fitness goals and specifically ski racing goals, using a very intense, time efficient workout program focused on overall body movement, strength, flexibility, mental focus and endurance. His programs are a combination of dryland workouts and pool workouts. Anyone interested in learning more about his programs can call him directly at: 617-699-4269 or e-mail him at: steve@harvardridge.com. If anyone wants to talk to Carolyn about Steve's programs, they can e-mail her at cab at baupost.com.
